Mission Statement: The mission of the Christian Arts Ministry is to use "Artistic Forms" to glorify God, teach, provide fellowship opportunities and to compliment the overall ministry of the church. To use "Art" as a vehicle for praising God, teaching spiritual concepts and edifying the body of Christ. It also provides a means for employing gifts, talents and abilities in service to God.

Sewanee University Sewanee offers a generous number of merit based and non-need based scholarships. To be considered for these scholarships, students must apply using the Early Action Deadline of Dec. 1. Information available at www.sewanee.edu. AXA Achievement Scholarship You may qualify for an AXA Achievement Scholarship of $10,000 or $25,000. Criteria: Active in your community-lead a project that benefits others-have overcome personal challenges. Deadline is Dec. 15. Applications are available at www.axa-achievement.com. Comcast Leaders & Achievers Seniors wishing to be considered for nomination for the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship are to submit a resume to Mr. Szwajkowski in the Career Center. This scholarship recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for their commitment to community service, academics and leadership. PHHS may nominate one senior. University Achievement Award This scholarship program is designed to attract exceptional in-state students to U.Va. We are looking for students who will add to the diversity of the University community. We hope this award, covering full tuition for four years, will make it easier to attend U.Va. All in-state applicants are automatically considered for this award. The most competitive applicants will demonstrate through Part II of the application that they have special talents, unique personal characteristics, and/or pressing needs that will assist us with our objective to recruit and retain a diverse student body. Academic merit, leadership, and citizenship are primary considerations. Optional recommendations are due December 1st. A student must also satisfy at least two of the following conditions: (1) have a history of overcoming disadvantage; (2) be a first generation college student; (3) be a member of an underrepresented minority or ethnic group; (4) be a member of a low income family; (5) reside in a rural or inner-city location; (6) have been raised in a single parent household.
Jerome Holland Scholarship The Jerome Holland Scholarship was created in 1987 to help the University of Virginia compete for the most promising African American students in the country. Named for the late Ambassador to Sweden, the CAP Charitable Foundation sponsored scholarship is a reflection of his commitment to academic excellence and public service. All African American students applying to the University are automatically considered for the five to seven Holland Scholarships available each year. Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Fund The Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Fund at the University of Virginia provides scholarships for black students admitted to U.Va. Named for the University's first black graduate, The Ridley Fund is the product of the vision and generosity of the University's Black Alumni and friends. Since its creation in 1987, hundreds of alumni, parents, and friends have joined forces to award over 300 scholarships. The scholarship is awarded to matriculating first year students and students may apply after they have accepted the University's offer of admission. Ron Brown Scholar The Ron Brown Scholar Program is a national program that awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African American high school seniors who intend to pursue undergraduate degrees full-time. Gates Millennium Program The Gates Millennium Scholars is a scholarship program funded by a one billion dollar grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This is a twenty year commitment designed to fund the college education of twenty thousand high achieving low income minority students. Bolivar Network The Bolívar Network is an organization of University of Virginia alumni of Latin American birth, origin, or affinity, working hand-in-hand with current students and faculty, to foster connections with one another and our alma mater in order to contribute to the further enrichment and diversity of the university and wider community by nourishing the Latino presence in the academical village. Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the largest Hispanic scholarship-granting organization in the nation. HSF provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanic students in higher education throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The students represent every region of the country, and attend hundreds of institutions of higher education throughout America. American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is a national, nonprofit organization that nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Native Alaskans to pursue studies in science, engineering, business and other academic arenas. The trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community. AISES' ultimate goal is to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians and Native Alaskans as they seek to become self-reliant and self-determined members of society. Boston University Trustee Scholarship Boston University's most prestigious merit-based award recognizes students who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Students from the United States and around the world are nominated by high school principals and headmasters. Those considered for the Trustee Scholarship typically rank in the top 5-10% of their class and demonstrate exceptional records of service and activity in their schools and communities. While the competition is especially rigorous, the benefits are considerable. A Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus the orientation and undergraduate student fees and is renewable for four years if certain criteria are met. Scholars also become part of a unique campus community that offers many intellectual, cultural and social rewards. Various other scholarships are also available. Dominion Strong Men & Women: Excellence in Leadership Strong Men & Women is a unique program developed by Dominion to provide our youth with positive role models, African-American men and women whose accomplishments and determination demonstrate true excellence in leadership. Student Writing Contest Each year, Dominion invites high school juniors and seniors from schools in the Virginia and northeastern North Carolina service area, and students who are currently juniors or seniors at a public or private high school in the Dominion East Ohio service area, to submit essays on the achievements of outstanding African Americans featured in our series. Submit entries online at www.dom.com keyword strong.. The deadline for submitting an entry is November 9. Winning students will receive a $1,000 cash award.
Sweet Briar Sweet Briar CLIMB Scholarship is a $10,000 engineering scholarship for four years. Need and merit based. Sweet Briar Wyllie Scholarship is a scholarship worth up to $5,000 for four years. Merit based only. Applications at www.engineering.sbc.edu

If you are a student who has achieved academic excellence in the face of economic challenges, we encourage you to apply to the National College Match. You may be concerned about tuition costs, but QuestBridge's partner colleges offer generous financial aid packages that cover 100% of demonstrated financial need, making them very affordable for low-income students. Last year, QuestBridge's partner colleges offered admission and more than $100 million in financial aid to over 1,000 students who applied to the National College Match.
